Raja Harishchandra was the first feature film ever made in India which was released in 1913 .Since it was a silent film, the first movie with sound was Alam ara which gor released in 1931.But these all movies was filmed and released in black and white color .
India’s first indigenous film
In 1937 ,Ardeshit Irani tried to fill some colour with his movie Kisan Kanya .It was the first indigenously made colour film. The movie was directed by Moti B Gidwani and produced by Ardeshit Irani. The film was based on a novel penned by the famed writer Saadat Hasan Manto. Saadat Hasan Manto is an Indo-Pakistani writer who had penned many short stories, novels, radio plays, and essays.
India’s first technicolor film
It was in 1953 that India produced its first multi color or Technicolor movie.
Jhansi Ki Rani is a 1953 Hindi historical drama film produced and directed by Sohrab Modi for his Minerva Movietone production banner. It is credited as the first Technicolor film made in India.
It was based on the India’s lady warrior who fought with British empire Raj guru trains Manu, a young girl, in physical combat and political leadership. She then goes on to become the queen of Jhansi and fights against the tyranny of the British regime.
