Siddharth Anand Opts Out of Directing Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s “Pathaan 2”

Renowned for his high-octane action films like “War” and the first installment of the ambitious YRF spyverse, “Pathaan,” director Siddharth Anand has reportedly decided not to helm the sequel, “Pathaan 2.” The upcoming sequel, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, will see a fresh director take the reins, according to recent reports.

Sources close to the project reveal that Aditya Chopra, the mastermind behind the YRF spyverse, intends to bring in new directors for each installment to infuse a fresh perspective into the franchise’s characters. This decision aligns with Chopra’s strategy to avoid repeating directors for sequels, thereby ensuring a diverse creative approach to the evolving spy universe.

While details about the director for “Pathaan 2” are yet to be finalized, insiders confirm that work on the action-packed sequel has already commenced. Plans are underway to kickstart production by the end of the year, signaling YRF’s commitment to expanding and diversifying its spyverse.

The YRF spyverse has seen a lineup of talented directors helming its various installments. From Kabir Khan directing “Ek Tha Tiger” to Ali Abbas Zafar’s “Tiger Zinda Hai” and Maneesh Sharma’s “Tiger 3,” each filmmaker has brought their unique vision to the franchise. Similarly, “War 2” is set to be directed by Ayan Mukerji, showcasing YRF’s dedication to collaborating with diverse voices in the industry.

In addition to the Tiger and War franchises, YRF is venturing into new territory with a female-centric spy thriller starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh, directed by Shiv Rawail. Furthermore, reports suggest the possibility of a crossover film, “Tiger vs Pathaan,” featuring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in their respective spy avatars, adding another layer of excitement to the expanding spyverse.
