Sequel To Bollywood’s First 100-Crore Film ‘Disco Dancer’ Announced With Mithun Chakraborty & Tiger Shroff.

Legendary Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty’s iconic movie ‘Disco Dancer’ (1982) is getting a sequel, after a gap of 41 years. The film’s producer and director B Subhash is backing the project, with Nitin Kumar Gupta as the director. The sequel is tentatively titled ‘Disco Dancer 2’.

‘Disco Dancer’ was a musical drama that revolved around the story of a street singer named Jimmy (played by Mithun Chakraborty), who becomes a disco star. The movie was a box office success, with Bappi Lahiri’s popular tracks like ‘Jimmy Jimmy aaja aaja’, ‘I am a disco dancer’, and ‘Yaad aa raha hai’ becoming instant hits. The movie is also credited for introducing disco music to the Hindi film industry.

According to Mid-day, the sequel will pick up from where the original left off, and will follow the story of Jimmy and his son. The movie will reportedly be shot in various international locations, including Russia. The makers are reportedly keen to have Mithun Chakraborty reprise his iconic role as Jimmy in the sequel. Talks are also reportedly underway with international music directors to score the music for the movie.

The makers are reportedly in talks with KV Vijayendra Prasad, the writer of blockbuster movies like ‘RRR’ (2022), ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ (2015) to serve as the writer-presenter of the sequel.

When contacted, B Subhash confirmed the news, stating that he had given the sequel’s rights to Nitin Kumar Gupta and that he would be a joint producer. However, he declined to comment on whether Mithun Chakraborty & Tiger Shroff would be a part of the project.

Fans of the ‘Disco Dancer’ franchise are eagerly awaiting the release of the sequel, which promises to bring back the nostalgia of the 80s and the magic of Mithun Chakraborty’s dance moves.
