Kuch Kuch hota hai & Friendship day

The movie “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” released on 25th October 1998, brought a significant change in the way Friendship Day was celebrated, especially with the use of Friendship Bands as a symbol of friendship. The following year, in 1999, when Friendship Day arrived on the first Sunday of August ie, 1 AUGUST , Teenagers were seen rushing to buy friendship bands.

The film popularized the concept of friendship bands, making Friendship Day a more prominent occasion for many. Satin ribbons, which were not in much demand before, suddenly became a trend after the movie’s release. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai started the tradition of exchanging friendship bands, and it became a symbol of affection between friends. Girls hoped that the boys they liked in school would tie a band on their wrist, and vice versa. Some kids purchased fancier bands, while others made do with simple satin ribbons.

These friendship bands were proudly flaunted for a week or so before being tucked away as cherished collectibles. The film, with its iconic dialogue “Pyaar Dostii Hai” (Love is Friendship), has left a lasting impact on many, especially during their growing-up years. Fans of the movie are sure to feel nostalgic about those memories.
