Producer Sajid Nadiadwala, along with director Nitesh Tiwari and actors Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, has made the decision to release their upcoming film, Bawaal, directly on a digital platform.
Sources close to the production have confirmed that Bawaal will have a direct-to-digital release on Amazon Prime Video in October. The film, considered one of Sajid Nadiadwala’s most ambitious projects, explores a subject that differs from the typical commercial elements of dance and music. In light of the current market scenario, Sajid believes that releasing Bawaal on a digital platform is a safer choice compared to a theatrical release. He has secured a promising deal with digital players and has therefore opted to forgo the original plan of a theatrical release.
An official announcement regarding the film’s release on Amazon Prime Video will be made soon. Sajid had discussions with Varun and Janhvi, and their agreement on the decision prompted him to move forward with the direct-to-digital release. The entire team is confident that Bawaal will captivate the audience on the OTT platform. The film is described as a poetic motion and is expected to reach a wider audience base through the digital medium, which may not have been feasible with a theatrical release. The aim is to have a global presence for Bawaal, and partnering with Amazon as the platform aligns perfectly with that goal.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Bawaal is set against the backdrop of World War II. The movie features Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles.
