Hina Khan, who made her debut at Cannes in 2019, is making head turns at that the 75th edition of the film festival this year. The actress is attending the festival for the poster launch of her upcoming movie, Country of the Blind.
Two days back, a video of Pooja, Urvashi, Deepika Padukone, director Shekhar Kapur, music maestro AR Rahman and others attending the inauguration of the Indian Pavilion at Cannes had gone viral. While all the talents from India were present at the ceremony, Hina was nowhere to be seen.
Hina recently reacted to not being included at the ceremony and told Anupama Chopra at Film Companion, “There is this elitist system, this elitist game which still exists.”
Recalling the ceremony at the Indian pavilion, Hina said, “We had singers and we have many very well-known talents. It’s not that I envy them, I am so proud of them but at the same time it is a bit disheartening that why was I not there?. Why was I not there? I could have been in the audience at least.”Hina, however, emphasised that her contemporaries from back home have added glamour to Cannes and she loved the “Ghoomar video”.
