“HanuMan” Emerges as the First Hit of 2024, Surpassing Opening Weekend Totals of KGF1 and Kantara Hindi Versions

In a surprising turn of events, Prashanth Varma and Teja Sajja’s “HanuMan” have exceeded the opening weekend numbers of KGF1 and Kantara Hindi versions, creating a buzz among Bollywood trade pundits. The film, released on January 12th in over 1000 locations in North India, is now being celebrated as the first hit of 2024, especially in Mumbai circles.

The Hindi version of “HanuMan” has garnered an impressive collection of ₹12.2+ crores nett during its opening weekend, with ₹2.15 crore on Friday, ₹4.05 crore on Saturday, and ₹6.06 crore on Sunday. The film has showcased its wide appeal in mass markets in the North, and multiplex business is also thriving. The absence of major releases until Hrithik Roshan’s “Fighter” hits theaters on January 25 might further solidify “HanuMan” ‘s box office standing. With its continued success, the film is positioned to be a significant early success in 2024, earning the title of the first hit by Bollywood trade pundits.

Trade experts anticipate that “HanuMan” could potentially reach around ₹40+ crores nett in its full run, and the numbers may skyrocket if positive word of mouth continues to boost its popularity. Meanwhile, the Telugu version is also performing exceptionally well, with the Nizam area reaching a breakeven of ₹6.5+ crores share within just three days of release.
