In the world of entertainment, dreams often take root in the most unexpected places, fuelled by inspiration and nurtured by determination.
For Pratibha Ranta, a budding actress from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, the path to stardom was paved with aspirations and a resolve to follow in the footsteps of her hometown’s iconic figure, Preity Zinta.
In a candid interview with PTI, Pratibha reminisced about her formative years spent at the Convent of Jesus And Mary School in Shimla, where Preity Zinta, too, had once walked the halls. It was here that the seeds of ambition were sown, amidst playful taunts and teasing from friends who often likened her to the Bollywood star. “Dekho, heroine aa rahi hai,” they would jest, unknowingly igniting a flame of determination within Pratibha. She recalls, “I was like ‘Ab to main Preity Zinta ban ke rahungi.'”
Growing up in a town where aspirations often seemed like distant dreams, Pratibha found solace and motivation in the success story of Preity Zinta, who had transcended geographical boundaries to carve her niche in the film industry. As she navigated through her own journey, Pratibha’s family echoed the sentiments of the community, reminding her that not everyone’s fate is akin to that of Preity Zinta. Yet, they instilled in her the belief that dreams are worth chasing, regardless of the odds.
As she embarked on her journey, Pratibha was acutely aware of the challenges that lay ahead. Yet, armed with determination and a deep-seated passion for acting, she set her sights on Mumbai, the city of dreams. “Growing up all that I heard is that I am a heroine and one day I will go to Mumbai,” she revealed. “So I knew I had to figure a way out.”
Today, as Pratibha Ranta makes her mark in the industry with notable projects like “Heeramandi” and “Laapataa Ladies,” she stands as a mascot to the power of dreams and the resilience of spirit.
