Actually The co producer of the movie Nariman Irani suffered huge loss in his previous movie Zindagi zindagi .
Amitabh Bachchan, Zeenat Aman and Chandra Barot often saw Nariman Irani dejected on sets of Roti Kapda aur Makan coz of the failure of his previous movie and worried on how he will repay the debt. It is then that the trio suggested to Irani that he should make another movie and that they will work in it !! Barot was assistant director in Roti Kapda aur Makan. So they finalised a story with the help of Salim Javed who develop it in a engaging screenplay .
And the rest is history .
The movie upon release became one of the highest grossing movie of 1978.
Written by the duo Salim-Javed and music given by Kalyanji Anandji, Don stars Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman as the lead, along with Pran. Iftekhar, Helen, Om Shivpuri and Satyen Kappu in supporting roles. Amitabh Bachchan plays a double role, as Bombay underworld boss Don and his lookalike Vijay.
