In 2006, Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal delivered a memorable performance in Priyadarshan’s comedy Bhagam Bhag, which became a box-office hit and later achieved cult status. Now, nearly two decades later, Bhagam Bhag fans have a reason to rejoice as Akshay Kumar has acquired the rights for a sequel, Bhagam Bhag 2, with plans to bring back the original trio of Akshay, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal.
Fresh Take on Comedy Classic
According to sources, Akshay Kumar recently acquired the Bhagam Bhag rights from Shemaroo and has entered the early stages of script development for the sequel. Known for his iconic comedy roles in Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, and Bhagam Bhag, Akshay is keen on reviving the beloved 2006 comedy with a fresh team of writers. The focus is on creating a storyline that honors the legacy of the original while bringing a new twist to the comedy classic.
Reuniting the Comic Legends
Akshay’s goal is to reunite with Govinda and Paresh Rawal, promising a nostalgic experience for fans who remember the trio’s dynamic chemistry. “Having three comedy legends in the same film will be a cinematic treat,” shared a source. The team is committed to crafting a story that captures the humor and spirit of the original, and discussions are ongoing with another producer to bring this project to life.
Expected Timeline and Future Projects
If all goes as planned, Bhagam Bhag 2 is expected to start filming by the end of 2025 and hit theaters in 2026. Once the scripting phase is complete, a director will be brought on board to lead the project.
Currently, Akshay Kumar is busy with Housefull 5, and he has Welcome to the Jungle and Bhooth Bangla lined up. In addition, he will return to the courtroom drama Jolly LLB 3, scheduled for release in April 2025.
