After Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo Super success , which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on June 12, more Hindi films will have digital releases. From Sushant Singh rajput’s last release Dil bechara to Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb to Alia Bhatt’s Sadak 2, sources reveal that eight films will be released on Disney+ Hotstar in the upcoming months.
While the source close to the development confirmed the news, when IndiaToday.in tried reaching out the platform, they didn’t officially confirm it.
Here’s the list:
1.Laxmmi Bomb
Starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani, Laxmmi Bomb is the official Hindi remake of the Tamil film, Muni 2: Kanchana. The Hindi film is being helmed by Raghava Lawrence, who also directed the Tamil version. In the horror comedy, Akshay will be seen playing the role of a transgender.
2.Sadak 2
Sadak 2 will mark the return of Mahesh Bhatt to the director’s chair. The filmmaker is working with daughter Alia Bhatt for the first time in the film. Sadak 2 is the sequel to Mahesh Bhatt’s 1991 film of the same name, which starred his elder daughter, Pooja Bhatt. The film also stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt.
3.Bhuj:The pride of India
Ajay Devgn’s Bhuj: The Pride of India is based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war. In the film, the actor plays Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, who played a pivotal role in the war. It also stars actors like Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharad Kelkar, Nora Fatehi, Ammy Virk and Pranitha Subhash. The film is directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya.
4. The bigg bull
Starring Abhishek Bachchan, The Big Bull is produced by Ajay Devgn. The film is reportedly based on stockbroker Harshad Mehta, who had committed many financial crimes. Abhishek began shooting for the film in September 2019. It was scheduled to release in the theatres on October 23, before the novel coronavirus crisis hit the industry. Directed by Kookie Gulati, The Big Bull also stars Ileana D’Cruz, Nikita Dutta and Sohum Shah in pivotal roles.
5.Dil bechara
Dil Bechara is the remake of Hollywood film The Fault in Our Stars, which is based on John Green’s novel of the same name. Directed by Mukesh Chhabra, the film stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi in the lead roles, while Saif Ali Khan will play a pivotal role. The film was earlier named Kizie Aur Manny. It was scheduled to release on May 8, but the makers then decided to postpone it due to the lockdown.
6.Lootcase
Lootcase is a comedy film starring Kunal Kemmu and Rasika Duggal. Directed by Rajesh Krishnan, the film was postponed multiple times, before it was announced to be released on April 10. But, since the theatres remained shut due to the lockdown, makers decided to postpone the release yet again. Now it will see a digital release.
7.Shiddat
Shiddat stars Vicky Kaushal’s brother Sunny Kaushal in the lead role. Radhika Madan, who was last seen in Irrfan’s Angrezi Medium, plays the female lead. Diana Penty and Mohit Raina will also be seen in the film. Shiddat is directed by Kunal Deshmukh.
8.Mimi
Kriti Sanon will be seen playing the role of a surrogate mother in Mimi. The actress is reuniting with her Luka Chuppi director Laxman Utekar for the film. It’s the official Hindi remake of the National Award winning Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy! (2011). The film has been shot in Rajasthan’s Churu and Jaipur. Pankaj Tripathi, Sai Tamhankar, Manoj Pahwa and Supriya Pathak play pivotal roles.
