How Pran got his first movie ?

Pran, one of the most celebrated actors of Indian cinema, got his first movie role by chance. Pran, whose real name was Pran Krishan Sikand, was working as a photographer in Lahore when he met a film producer who offered him a small role in the Punjabi film “Yamla Jat” (1940). Pran agreed to do the role, and his performance was well-received by the audience.

After his debut, Pran moved to Bombay (now Mumbai) to pursue his acting career. However, he struggled to get substantial roles and had to settle for small and insignificant parts. It was only after a few years and with the help of his friend and co-actor Shyam that he was able to get better roles in films like “Khandaan” (1942) and “Chaudhary” (1944).

Pran’s big break came with the film “Ziddi” (1948), in which he played the villainous role of a smuggler. His performance was widely appreciated and earned him critical acclaim. From there on, there was no looking back for Pran, and he went on to become one of the most sought-after character actors in the Hindi film industry.
