Amrita Rao and RJ Anmol, who tied the knot in 2014, welcomed their first child in 2020. Before getting pregnant with son Veer, the couple went through pregnancy struggles for four years.
From opting for IVF to trying homoeopathy and Ayurveda, they tried several treatments to conceive a baby. Amrita had even opted for surrogacy, she revealed in a new YouTube video.
On Couple of Things, Anmol and Amrita opened up about their journey and revealed that they had been trying to get pregnant for years but nothing helped. They also opened up about losing a baby in surrogacy.
Speaking about the surrogacy process, Amrita shared what her first reaction was. “Frankly I was like hann hann mujhe pregnant nahi banna padega na, theek hai (I wouldn’t get pregnant right then it’s okay),” she said. The actress added, “Of course, there are many factors that the baby will get a lot of qualities of that surrogate mother and not what the original mother can give to the baby.”
They even recalled getting a call from the doctor when their baby’s first heartbeat was felt. Sadly, they were later informed that they had lost the baby. “It still breaks my heart,” an emotional Anmol said.
After going through it all for years, Amrita even reconsidered her decision. “Baccha karna chahiye bhi ya nahi (Should we even have a child). Will we be able to bring up babies with the hectic lives we have? Zaroori hai ya nahi (Is it important)?”
Opening up about IVF treatment, Amrita said, “Every time the nurse used to come to give me those hormonal shots I used to hate it. They were painless but I used to hate it.” She eventually decided to end the treatment. Anmol shared that he also had a bad experience with ayurvedic medicines and said, ‘the medicines aren’t agreeing with me.’
