Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, fondly known as KK, passed away after a concert in Kolkata on May 31. He was 53 years old. After his performance at Nazrul Mancha, Kolkata, he went to his hotel where he fell ill. The playback singer collapsed and was rushed to a private hospital in the city.
Singer KK’s body was brought to Mumbai on Wednesday evening. The cremation will take place today.
KK’s wife Jyoti and their kids also paid their last respects to him. Later, a gun salute was accorded to the late singer at Rabindra Sadan in Kolkata. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was also seen paying her respects to KK. She was joined by the singer’s family.
An ambulance carrying KK’s body was brought to Sadan at 2.30pm, and the gun salute took place at 2.43pm. KK’s wife and children were surrounded by senior ministers of the state government during the ceremony.
The body reached Mumbai and it was announced that the funeral will take place on June 2. Now, KK’s family shared the venue of his last rites and other details on his official Instagram.
