Dharmendra, one of the most celebrated actors of Indian cinema, got his first movie through a stroke of luck.
In 1958, Dharmendra was visiting Mumbai from his village Sahnewal in Punjab, with the hopes of becoming an actor. It is worth noting that Dharmendra had initially faced some hurdles in his journey to becoming an actor. He was rejected by many filmmakers and struggled to make ends meet in Mumbai.
But density has some other plans ,While he was out walking one day, he was spotted by a film producer named Arjun Hingorani. Hingorani, who was looking for a new face for his film “Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere”, approached Dharmendra and asked him if he was interested in acting in films.
Dharmendra, who had no prior experience in acting, agreed and was signed on for the film. He was paid Rs. 51 for his debut role, which was a small supporting part. However, his performance caught the eye of the audience and critics, and he was praised for his natural acting style. This led to more offers from filmmakers, and Dharmendra’s persistence and passion for acting eventually paid off,and he went on to become a leading actor in Bollywood. and pursued a successful career spanning several decades.
